West Texas Fertilizer Plant History

The facility was opened in 1962 as the West Fertilizer, Co. in the same location it is today.  Some sources estimate that the facility could have as many as twenty employees with annual revenues of less than five million.  West Fertilizer is affiliated with Adair Grain, Inc. Adair Grain has the following corporate officers:  Donald R. Adair, President and Director, Wanda L. Adair, Vice President and Director, and Ted Uptmore, General Manager.

West Fertilizer reported to the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ) that 54,000 pounds of anhydrous ammonia was stored at the facility to be used in the process of making fertilizer.
